Gratitude, Fresh Starts and Intentions: An Organizer's Year in Review

Thank you so much to my clients, my contemporaries, and my business community for a wonderful 2024!

I have learned so much from my clients and my business community—things that have both humbled me and lifted me up. I'm just so lucky and wanted to take a moment to gush with gratitude.

2024 in Review

Looking back on this last year, I realize that the days were long, but the year was fast. The work of 2024 was full of long days dedicated to rewarding organizing projects, and as the months sped by, it reinforced how much I truly love what I do! Every client I worked with brought meaningful changes to their lives and homes. Being part of that transformation is such a privilege.

Choosing to work with a Professional Organizer often shows a readiness for change, a commitment to creating a life that works better for you. Sometimes, that's as simple as ensuring you can always find your keys and phone in the morning. Other times, it's about preparing for a big transition, like downsizing or moving. Whatever the challenge, my goal is to guide and encourage my clients while respecting their unique lifestyles, tastes, and habits.

I am endlessly inspired by the courage and trust my clients demonstrate by inviting me into their homes and lives. This year has only deepened my belief that decluttering and organizing are not just about tidy spaces; they're about empowerment, clarity, and creating a home that truly serves you.

Organizing Success Stories of 2024

#1 Finding an Organized Food Storage Solution

I recently visited a young family struggling to coordinate food storage in their kitchen. As an outside observer, the answer was jumping out at me. The family had a beautiful underused shelved closet just off the kitchen, a perfect food pantry!

We relocated all food items (leaving a practical snack drawer in the kitchen) to the pantry and created a centralized location for all of their food. This created a "go-to" for dinner ingredients but also an easier way to see what is needed when shopping for more food. The new set up allows for the family to really evaluate what is in the house and eliminates overbuying or worse, missing the chance to use food before it expires.

Centralizing the food to the pantry also cleared up much needed space in the kitchen for small appliances and a much-needed spice cabinet near the stove. Sometimes, organizing is just reconsidering the location of our belongings!

#2 Reducing Memory Related Obstacles with Organization

I have a long-term client suffering from memory issues and we have started creating organized areas in her kitchen and bedroom, important parts of her day-to-day living.  This order helps to facilitate routines that keep her on track with her medications and daily commitments and to keep her feeling calm when she has momentary lapses in her memory. I can see the comfort she feels when she realizes she knows exactly where to find something that she relies on.  Order is a comfort, particularly when your world feels like its changing at a faster pace than you would like.

Success looks different for everyone in their organizing journey. Consider what that success would look like for you and start small, as described in the next section!

The Year Ahead: 2025

As we look ahead to 2025, I'm thrilled to continue learning and growing—both personally and alongside my clients. This year, I'm excited to deepen my focus on supporting those who are navigating life's transitions with grace and intention.

Whether you're embarking on a downsizing journey, reorganizing for a new chapter, or simply seeking more peace in your everyday routines, I'm here to help make that vision a reality.

I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on how your space is serving you.

  • Are there small tweaks you can make to create more ease in your daily life?

  • Perhaps you're ready to tackle a bigger project, like reorganizing your storage areas or letting go of items that no longer bring purpose or joy.

Wherever you are on your organizing journey, remember to approach it with kindness—both for yourself and your belongings.

The power of organization lies in its ability to align your home with your values and goals. It's not about fitting into a one-size-fits-all standard; it's about creating a space that supports the way you want to live. If you're feeling inspired to take that next step, know that you're not alone. Together, we can create a plan that works for you, bringing more order and peace into your life.

Here's to an organized and empowering 2025!
